What is Holistic Veterinary Medicine?
Updated: Apr 26
Holistic medicine offers treatment that considers the big picture of animal care. Recently, many animal owners are turning to holistic veterinary medicine entirely or incorporating it with more traditional vet care.
What is Holistic Veterinary Medicine?
Holistic veterinary medicine is an approach to animal care that treats the WHOLE animal. This means factoring in lifestyle, mental well-being, diet and medical issues in a treatment plan.
Holistic veterinarians typically have the same training as conventional veterinarians but have sought to learn other modes of treatment that may not be considered main stream. They typically incorporate multi-modal, whole body, more natural approaches to treatment and may utilize more alternative methods to help a pet than a conventional veterinarian might pursue.
Holistic Modalities and Treatments
There are many treatment plans and strategies used by holistic vets. The following are just a few of the common modalities you may find amiable with holistic treatment:
Nutrition Consultation
Alternative/Plant Based Medicines
Acupuncture
Chiropractic care
Stem Cell Therapy
Osteopathy
Nutritional therapy
Myofascial release
Allergy testing
IV Vitamin C therapy
