Our USDA-certified organic partner farm in Fort Collins, Colorado, produces the hemp we use for our CBD Pet Tinctures. How Much CBD Tincture Should I Give My Pet?
The philosophy regarding dosage for CBD tinctures is to “start low, go slow”: start with a low dosage and increase it gradually over the course of a few weeks, making adjustments depending on your health expectations.
As a guideline rule, CBD dosage for dogs and cats depends on their weight and overall health. We recommend starting with 1 mg of CBD per 10 pounds of weight. It is generally wise to “start low, go slow”: start with a low, twice daily dosage and let CBD work its way through your pet’s system over several days. If you don’t reach your expected health target, you can slowly increase the dosage. For horses, we recommend starting with 10 mg. You can increase this dose to 20 mg of CBD if needed.
It is common that pet owners start with CBD Pet Treats to see how their animals react to them, and once the pet owner has established their preferred dosage and CBD’s effect on their pet, they switch to CBD Pet Tinctures as they are more cost-effective.
How Should I Give the CBD Tinctures To My Pet?
CBD oil can be administered in several ways. The easiest way is to dribble the CBD drops on your pet’s food or onto a treat. If your pet is comfortable with it, you can also drop the CBD Tincture directly into their mouth, or rub it onto their gums.
Since gums have capillaries that connect directly to the bloodstream this method of consumption delivers faster and more effective results as it increases bioavailability. However, we do recommend using caution with this method as some animals might not welcome this approach.

Both experience and studies suggest that full-spectrum CBD is more potent and beneficial than CBD isolate alone thanks to the so-called entourage effect [1]. Hemp is brimming with more than 540 phytonutrients. All these botanical compounds have their own potential anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and stress-relieving properties that work hand-in-hand with CBD. Thanks to the entourage effect, the benefits are maximized: When these hemp compounds work together, they seem to produce an optimal overall effect, making the whole greater than the sum of its parts.
Our lab results and certificates of analysis show that the THC content of our CBD products always remains below the legal 0.3% threshold. The THC content in Suzie’s CBD tinctures and treats is at such low levels that it is perfectly safe for pets and trace amounts of THC have even been shown to enhance the effectiveness of CBD.

Some pet owners can be tempted to use off-the-shelf human CBD oil and add a few drops to their pet’s bowl.However, we advise against giving human products to pets as some human CBD products contain artificial sweeteners, alcohol, or other additives that may be harmful to pets.
